Hornslet 1.0 Rail Network 01

Progress is reset, ready for new Pioneers. There is a Train at Red Forest, but no Carts and No Cargo Platform, only for sight seeing. There are 4500MW at its Power Bank, when that runs out, you need to supply it yourself.
If you dont want to import the megaprint, you can download the mod and the save file get automatic put into your game. https://ficsit.app/mod/AzD7PVRPstZpEd
If you want to learn how to do the curves and vertical curves, check out this guide, plus all the blueprints are free and allready here on SCIM. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X30fJoTieow

I imported this into a fresh save because i loved the look of the rail supports and I am very lazy, the stations could be a little bigger but with some tinkering most can be extended just fine. One thing I DID notice is that the signalling could do with some improvement, there's a lot of slowing down of trains due to the distance between signals being a tad too short. I think this is mainly when intersections are too close together because furthest signal it checks is a path signal and that's still red and it is within the needed distance to come to a stop. ( Train - Path(Green) - Block(Green) - Path(Red) - Block(Green)) Path signals only go green when a train is in the block in front of it looking for a path. I THINK this is mostly around stations that have a separate entrance entry and exit T intersection on the main line, these tend to be about a train length and a half apart ish.

Trying to figure out how to load this into my world and remold my buildings around it. help please. I've saved it and put it into my blueprint design folder. is there somewhere else its supposed to go?

SwiftDeath60: May you update this thread when and if the new one comes out. I noticed Hornslet asked you to DM him on the Mainline megaprint. Eagerly awaiting to put this on my save if and when the one with the stations becomes available

Just a note to everyone. Picture #2 is not a part of the rail network. It is just a partial rail not attached to anything. Can be found in the forest region. The other 2 pictures are the complete rail network. The rail spans all major points of the map. It is a simple yet very well done network. And I can say from my experience doing global rails. This took a lot of time and effort to do. At least 60 real life hours plus planning. I'd give it ten thumbs up, but I only have 2. I did a updated version with the train stations (also by this person), and added power connections from batteries. Just waitting on Hornslet to let me know if they want to upload it or if I can.

Hornslet, can you contact me on steam or here. I have updated your global network to include your rail stations. Also added power connections throughout and a small biomass setup to keep batteries charged. All has been tested and is working. Including your stations, which needed updates to rail/signal connections. Would like to know if you want to upload the mega print (since it is all yours with a few additions). Or if I can upload. Thanks

Absolutely love this. I really love that you strived to make all lines in the junctions be on the same level. I do wish you had added more stations though. Did have a traffic jam at one of the roundabouts, 6 trains, waiting for path reservation that never came, I had to move them myself to get past the jam.

This is absolutely amazing! Super detailed and created with a lot of passion. I only added the megaprint after a few hours of playing and even deleted a few of my buildings. Thank you very much!

Super mod/megaprint - I had started building my own on/close-to-the-ground rail network but this looks much nicer than what I had managed myself. Will be some work to add stations in a consistent way, but that is the fun part for the pioneer since Hornslet has done the hard work of making the curves and gradients smooth and consistent :-) Thanks for sharing your hard work !

This is truly amazing! I love the curves and the simplicity.
Any advice how to extend this? Are some of your blueprints compatible with that? Did you build this with your private blueprints or did you build the curves by hand? Also which method do you use to make curves? I saw a lot of methods, but for some reason i can't replicate your curves.
I would really appreciate some tips. Thank you!

and yet another 10/10 creation from Hornslet! wow!
after spending a couple of hours exploring the rail network, i can firmly say, this is the cleanest, simplest, most straight forward, "it-works", rail network ive seen. outstanding approach and execution! them curves!
RE: "no space for stations" i would recommend pioneers place stations AWAY from main rail lines. as in, if you need a station somewhere, you would want to avoid putting it right next to or on the main tracks. instead, build a "driveway" (one track going into station, one track coming from station) from the station to main rail thats at least one full track length long, but ideally, as long as possible. this will help by having a "queue" space for trains waiting to go into the station if theres already a train there, keeping the main track open for traffic as much as possible.

Fantastic, exactly what I was looking for: simple and elegant design that I can actually extend myself without a hundred blueprints, not elevated too high from the ground where adding stations is difficult, and great coverage of the map/POI. Truly a work of art, thank you so much for sharing!

ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. My only complaint is there is not enough places for you rail stations

Simple AMAZING! Full foundation support, no spiral abominations...still quick load/save. Excellent job mate.
