For those of you want to quit your job of being a hydrogen atom in a particle collider: Here is a compact vertical cyclotron with a consistent trigger.
How it works: Like most cylotrons/cyclic (nonlinear) human accelerators, this works by sending you in a loop to build up speed. Instead of being ejected from the loop by using WASD or by having the collision get wonky after getting fast enough, you simply press your crouch button to eject. The design include a one-way valve so that pioneers coming back along the pipe don't get sucked into the cyclotron again involuntarily (this is important if you plan on using it like I do, to connect to locations or many locations to a hub).
At first I was just trying to develop a vertical cyclotron because it might be more compact, but I was finding it harder than I remember to boost out of the accelerating loop (maybe there have been some updates since I last built one of these), especially since I thought gravity might be able to make it more consistent. However, after mashing my keys in frustration one time I found a configuration that would eject me iff I did that. After a couple more attempts of isolating the influential variables I found out WASD/Facing was irrelevant, it was just the crouch button, and it was consistent. My hypothesis here is that the collision of the pioneer changes subtly in the z direction when crouching to reliably hit a different loop.
Oh, if someone could help test it in multiplayer that would be great.
